The Federal Highway Administration’s (FHWA) Office of Planning publishes a quarterly series of GIS in Transportation webcasts and newsletters. These publications give agencies the opportunity to highlight their GIS applications, initiatives, and efforts to peers around the country, and strengthen the GIS and transportation community of practice.
FHA is currently seeking contributors for the webcast and newsletter series. It welcomes a particular emerging or interesting topic, issue, or project you would like to see featured in an upcoming publication.
Writing or speaking for the series gives the opportunity to reach a broad audience of peers and draw attention to work within your own agency. Past topics have included:
- Oregon DOT’s Work Zone Traffic Analysis Tool
- Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department’s (AHTD) Crash Location Tool
- The National Park Service’s (NPS) Park Transportation Investment Needs Analysis (PaTINA)
- New Mexico Department of Transportation’s (NMDOT) Mobile Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Applications for Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS)
