Google Transit ListServ

Google Transit Trip Planner Google Group

Google Transit enables you to enter the specifics of your trip—where you're starting, where you're ending up, what time of day you'd like to leave and/or arrive—then uses all available public transportation schedules and information to plot out the most efficient possible step-by-step itinerary.

And that's INIT only, or different vendors?

Re: GTFS Vs SIRI

Yes, they did it in Bavaria in Germany where 4 huge transit organisations
built up an area wide system with up to 400 bus companies with ca. 3500
busses in one ITCS system. They have a video here:

Re: Google Mobile Trip Planner

Personally I would encourage Google to remove it sooner than later or just
post a statement on there that the form does not work. To keep a form
public but make it where it doesn't work is very frustrating. That being
said, I would highly encourage the decision to deprecate that feature to be
reconsidered. I know that everyone LOVES having "an app for that" but there

Re: GTFS Vs SIRI

I have to say I haven't been in a position recently to closely follow
what's going on behind the scenes here, i.e. in how far systems of
different operators have actually been connected with SIRI to support
meaningful cooperation. Automatic management of transfer points (e.g.
bus to rail) come to mind as one prominent use case. Any examples out

Re: Google Mobile Trip Planner

My understanding is that this feature has been deprecated. I believe the
page will eventually be removed.

Re: GTFS Vs SIRI

Hello,

SIRI is the european standard for transit data exchange. Herewith it is
possible that different systems in europe can "talk" together. Background
is that in the last 30 years each producer of real time passenger
information systems built their own systems and could not work together or

Google Mobile Trip Planner

The following url used to link to a web form that was sized for mobile
devices and let you trip plan.

The querystring of dirflg=r would default the method of transportation to
transit and use the GTFS data. It worked very well.
Now when you go to the form there is only one textbox to enter data into

RE: Merge tool - request

Those are normal warnings that won't affect your results. You won't have any interruption in trip planning as long as the date ranges in each file were continuous. I like to run the validator tool on the resulting merged file to see any other errors/warnings that might have cropped up after the merge.

Merge tool - request

Can anyone please comment.

I am using the merge tool - to merge our current feed with the new one
so that it enables the next service change without an interruption in
Google's trip planner . Here's what I got - does this mean when I upload
to Google in the next couple of days with the new pick - it will mean no

Re: GTFS Vs SIRI

I'd also add that there is a real-time complement to GTFS called
GTFS-realtime:

It's similar to SIRI in that its designed to exchange real-time transit
information.

Thanks,
Brian

Re: GTFS Vs SIRI

Catrina,
There is a group dedicated to such questions, transit developers:

I think you'll be able to get more opinions/advise than just mine.

In conceptual terms, GTFS and SIRI are complementary. GTFS is for pre-
defined schedule and network data. This is where stops including stop

Re: san Antonio via not working

There was a temporary lapse in the schedule data we receive from the
agency. The agency has since updated their feed and San Antonio public
transit is now working again on Google Maps.

Thanks,
Brian
